Figtree AFC is excited to present its mental health initiative
aimed at educating and helping the Figtree playing group and supporters. This initiative has been made possible by the support of the football committee and local company South 32.

Figtree AFC has partnered with clinics in the Illawarra who have agreed to give our members priority access to their services. Any registered Figtree player is entitled to a $300 subsidy to help cover some of the costs involved in seeking help.

Our clinical partners have also agreed to provide feedback to the club about the demographics of those seeking help so that we can tailor services to playing groups that have identified common issues. This feedback will only be general in nature and should the provider believe that anyone’s identity may be compromised they have the right to withhold this information.

Before using these services, the Figtree AFC encourage you to speak to your GP and prepare a Mental Health Plan. Our providers also encourage a mental health plan to be in place before starting sessions and this will also allow you to link to Medicare and receive further discounts on sessions. If you would like to visit any of our providers without a mental health plan you are entitled to do so and will still have access to the subsidy.

To access these services all you need to do is speak to Andrew Hales, the club’s mental health and well-being officer, who’ll be able to give you the details of the providers and what you’ll need to do before booking in with them.

We understand that anonymity is a priority for most people under these circumstances and Andrew Hales as the Figtree Mental health and well-being officer will be the only person at our club who has access to your details.
